THE
MAGHOUSE:
Working
directly with a team of architects, builders and owners this
new home construction takes full advantage of a prominent
spot in the neighborhood. Taking cues from the architecture
the landscape design employs a new front entry sequence which
includes a concrete feature wall, stairs and lighting. The
planting palette was developed from the existing and mature
Scott’s Pine and Orange Japanese Maple in the front
yard. Plants of deep purple, tawny orange and warm gold colors
enhance the rich tones of the architectural finishes. Small
scale patios on the side yard and on the roof deck are enhanced
with dramatic plants, textured stone and colored concrete
combinations that when viewed from inside, draw the visitor
out into the garden.
MEDINA
COURTYARD:
An
intimate and private entry courtyard greets the owners at their new Mediterranean
style home. Duel symmetrical water features using signature urns receive cascades
of water into a vessel of stucco, tile and black stones. New plants reflect the
architectural grandeur of the home with a flash of Pacific NW Tropical for color
and fun. The patio hardscape is constructed of Quartzite and strives to match
the house in detail and style. Other elements include low voltage lighting and
irrigation to allow the homeowner full ease of use and maintenance year round.
GLASGOW
RESIDENCE:
Scented
flowers and colorful grasses provide charm to this cottage
style garden in Magnolia. The circle patio on the South
side yard provides sunny seclusion while the arbor gives
shelter near the potting shed. A raised deck allows
the visitor to take in the whole rear yard in relaxed repose.
KIRKLAND RESIDENCE:
This south facing garden received a full makeover
following new house construction. A revised
entry sequence was constructed to complement
the architecture and provides a perfect backdrop
for the warm color plant palette. The rear
yard has play space with a built in checkerboard
hardscape and an elevated grass stage, as well
as a home brewing station.
SEWARD PARK RESIDENCE:
At the South end of Lake Washington this new construction
highlights a stone water feature and concrete walls to
define the contemporary architecture of the home. A viewing
deck and modern plantings greet guests while taking in
the views to the lake and the adjacent park.
MORUM-RODDY RESIDENCE:
A full master plan landscaping design
was essential for this newly remodeled home in North Beach. A new entry gate and pathway directs the visitor past
an natural boulder waterfall feature and extensive plantings. The front
yard also includes a patio which captures morning sun. A simple pathway
to the rear yard leads to an enclosed area with raised beds for vegetables and
flowers.
PHINNEY RIDGE TROPICAL:
Owners of a quaint stucco home in Seattle's Phinney Ridge updated the landscape
with a tropical garden. On this small site a new porch, pathway, water feature
and tropical plants afforded a textural and colorful effect. The parking strip
is installed with palm trees and colorful flowers. The bamboo fence and gate
were designed and constructed by Bamboo Builders NW.
WINDEMERE RESIDENCE:
Overgrown and outdated plantings were replaced with a new stair and entry sequence
from the street. A stone patio and arbor capture views of Lake Washington from
the master suite. Colorful containers at key focal points highlight site lines
to define structure in this new garden.
